Three gorgeous girls – aptly named The Three Belles - put some 1940s pep in Holly’s step earlier this year when she heard them perform their swell harmonies at the Vintage Wedding Fayre for The Modern Bride organised by Super Duper Vintage Events.
Gail, who sports stunning fire-red hair, explains the group’s musical influences:
"We absolutely love performing in The Three Belles. It has always been our passion to sing, but this band is truly doing what we do best, singing in harmony to our favourite swingin' tunes. We are inspired by The Andrews Sisters as well as other singers of the time such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, and Doris Day. They all had such incredible talent."
The chance meeting at the event led to a suggestion by Holly’s long-time photographic collaborator, Emma Griffin – who took stunning shots of the girls on the day - that she give these very vintage lasses some head-pieces to wear.
Thrilled to receive Holly’s offer, the girls have worn her designs on tour around the UK and into Europe.
"Our favourite thing about being in The Three Belles is perform at so many amazing festivals and 1940s weekends,” says Betty, ‘the blonde belle’. “Recently we performed in France and the reception out there was amazing. Plus they fill you with loads of food and drink until you're fit to burst. The French love the music as much as we do and there's always a big buzz around the gigs."
With victory rolls, ruby-red lips and co-ordinating dresses, The Three Belles epitomise mid-twentieth century star style to which Holly’s cute fascinators are the perfect accompaniment.

‘'We love our Holly Young hats,” enthuses Dorothy, the sultry brunette of the group. “They are so cute and go with so many of our outfits. Recently we have been wearing them with our black and pink Hellbunny dresses, but they also go with all of our Seamstress of Bloomsbury outfits. The fascinators make us feel ever so sophisticated, but also girly as they are a pink/red with a bow!!"
Stay tuned for more ways these talented ‘four belles’ plan to collaborate…
