Named after a shipwreck that went down 100 years ago this very May, just off of Trevose Head, Cornwall.
I am so excited about the Saphir collection. Awakened by my recent move to a studio location beside the sea, my new collection is inspired by the movement of the waves and natural forms and shapes in nature. Cornish tales, mermaid mythology and the magic of the ocean have all come together, bringing with the tide, an abundance of colour, texture, a sense of fun and fantasy, along with the elegance, style and simplicity that I aim to bring to every collection. Saphir is all about beauty, bold yet timeless design and buried treasure.
It reflects the very best of Cornwall and our cultural heritage but with my usual touch of vintage flair. These pieces are all about the romance of the rugged Cornish coast. I’ve drawn inspiration from everything; close up details of sea life, abstract interpretations of seascapes by local artists, the feeling of warm summer nights on the skin, chilled lemonade, rose gold glamour and fabulous filigree detailing, even the rich hue of coral which was inspired by local fishing nets...
