Real Groom - Jonny & Bluebell

When Jonny and Bluebell shared with me their wedding ideas board I was really excited (see first image). I loved the country theme, natural textures, tweed fabrics, rich red tones and soft greys. I had plenty of ideas for making the grooms button holes to tie in with the English rustic theme. I sent them some photographs of different combinations of pheasant, guinea fowl and cockerel feathers and after a few emails we reached the winning design.

They tied the knot in November 2018 and had a winter country styled wedding set in the stunning grounds of Brympton House in Somerset.
In this blog Jonny gives us an insight into the styling of the groomsmen and how they pulled off looking so dapper!

Jonny - ''We wanted to enhance the stunning country house venue with some elegant yet rural touches so being able to include delicate bird feathers in the form of button holes was perfect.''

Jonny explains how the rest of the groomsmen outfits came together, primarily by visiting Gaff in Bath.

''The owner Mo helped to put together the suit options for both me and the groomsmen. Mo also slightly tailored each suit to ensure the fit was just right for each individual. For example, I had the trousers of mine slightly tapered in at the bottom to give more of slim fit look. The shirts are from Charles Tyrwhitt, they have a fit system where me and all my groomsmen could have the same shirt (texture and style), but all have a different fit from Classic to Super Slim.’’

It just goes to show that those little tweaks and attention to detail are so important in menswear. I love the 'gents style boxes' put together by Gentlemens Practice, containing ties, cufflinks, tie bars, label pin etc. I think they are such a clever way of styling the accessories together, whilst creating a special gift for the groomsmen to enjoy opening on the day. The stag pin also complemented my feather button holes so well.

Jonny and Bluebell really considered all elements of styling when they were planning their wedding. I think having that ideas board right at the beginning was a great visual resource to refer back to and very helpful when making decisions. You can see that all the details from the flowers to the wedding cake, the bridesmaids dresses to the table decorations all tie in beautifully with the grand surroundings of Brympton House and the wintery time of year.
