I had all kinds of plans to mark my 10th anniversary last year but for obvious reasons it didn't quite go to plan. Making hats, fascinators and bridal headwear has been a passion of mine for last 16 years.
I fell in love with the art of hat making when interning at the English National Opera house Millinery department. So much so that I dedicated all my working life from that point to seeking out whatever work I could in the industry. I've been lucky enough to have learnt from the best Milliners in the UK and arguably the world. However I'm a Cornish girl and I missed the sea and nature which is such a big part of where I draw my inspiration, so I decided to leave London and set up my own business back in 2010.
The last year has given me the opportunity to explore new creative avenues such as jewellery making and smaller hair accessories like clips, pins and scrunchies. Plus I've spent precious time with my son Kellan who is now 2 years old. He turned 1 just weeks before the first lockdown and he can now speak really well and I've not missed a single new word, for that I am truly grateful.
I realised that with all the life juggling my blog has been completely neglected over the past year! However, I have been very much been busy creating behind the scenes and making gift items and headpieces for small Covid weddings. Bringing joy or a flourish of colour in my small way, to those intimate nuptials. These images are just a small selection of some of the happy customers and new creations that I have been working on in 2020 and 2021.
I'm delighted to be busy with all kinds of Mother of the Bride and Groom hats and bespoke bridal accessories for excited ladies who can finally plan and attend weddings as 'normal' ish soon! I love creating bespoke pieces and most of my millinery designs in the online shop can be made in colours to match your outfit so please get in touch if you have future plans of attending an event. My studio is open for appointments! My 11th year celebrations will have to wait, but for now I'm just grateful to be back to business as usual!
